Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this, wasn't sure where else to put it (is there a community chatroom somewhere e.g discord?).
I started using Buku a few months ago and love it. However I've found it annoying there's no iOS app. I'm an iOS developer, and would like to experiment with SwiftUI; developing a Buku app for iOS seems like a good opportunity to scratch both those itches. I think this would be beneficial to the community, but I'm not hugely au fait with open source licensing, so just posting here to see what the response is. In all likelihood I'll probably start it and then, as with most developer side projects, give up a few months later. But if there was interest from others in getting something out there, then I'd be a lot more likely to continue.
Couple of questions:
Am I allowed to do this? I think I am but not entirely sure.
if yes - would it need to be open source? That's fine if so but just useful to know in advance.
if no to 2) (i.e it is listable on the App Store) - would I be allowed to include In App Purchases? Nothing big, just a "support future development of this app" kind of thing. The main functionality of the app/Buku would always be free, but users who buy the IAP might get a niche feature e.g different app icons or something. I'd be delighted to put some of the revenue from this (which would likely be tiny!) back into Buku via Github Sponsors or something.
I saw on #484 that an Android app is planned. If someone out there wanted to do that in parallel, i'd be up for collaborating.
I'd also be happy to contribute back to Buku in the future, although my Python skills aren't exactly great!
