This tool looks like it would be useful for tasks like bundling and minifying web application artifacts, a la gulp. Is the notion of streaming contents applicable here? FShake seems flexible enough for this purpose.

fshake is on hold now. You might want to look at https://github.com/VesaKarvonen/Recalled that went further with "incremental build" abstraction and is actively developed.
