Leios cryptographic and protocol security

PI9 will resolve the major outstanding questions and decisions related to Leios cryptography, specifically the sortition, signature, certification, and voting schemes employed in the protocol. (This leverages the open-ended, preliminary explorations of cryptographic and protocol issues in PI8.) The design will be documented in a draft section of the Leios CIP and a reference implementation will be developed. Mathematical and simulation analyses will quantify the probabilities of successful Leios operation versus attack vulnerabilities as a function of the Leios protocol parameters. A summary of the analyses will be added to the draft CIP and an online dashboard will be published so that stakeholders can explore the implications of parameter and security settings.

• Propose one or more detailed designs for Leios cryptography
• Develop a reference implementation of Leios cryptography
• Draft the cryptography and protocol-parameter sections of Leios CIP
• Compute probabilities of successful Leios operation and of attacks
• Create an online dashboard for exploring security implications of Leios protocol parameters
