Hydrogen version * : 1.2.0 installed via ubuntu repositories
Operating system + version : Ubuntu 23.10
Audio driver + version : Pipewire

I use a midi device to play notes into hydrogen. It would be great to have a preroll (count in) so that there is a delay between pressing record and midi events being recorded

  • H2 version : see 'Info > About' in the GUI or 'hydrogen -v' on the command line. Also, please indicate how you installed it, e.g. binary downloaded from SourceForge/Github, brew (macOS), OS repo (Linux), flathub (Linux), AppImage (Linux).

Hey @hellocatfood ,

Do you want something like a metronome counting you in? How about making the first pattern and first column a dedicated count in one with just e.g. hihat hits on each quarter?

If you want to count in on a variable time, you could map the BEATCOUNTER MIDI action to a dedicated controller / button / pad of your MIDI input device in the Preferences. (Be sure a "P" is displayed in the bottom right button of the Beatcounter which causes playback to start once all beats are collected; see here).
