This issue is to track progress towards a utopian future where COLRv1 is widely supported which would allow us to stop producing the following legacy color font formats (in order of expected future deprecation):
CBDT (Android, Chromium)
SBIX (Apple, bitmap)
COLRv0 (old browsers)
SVG (still widely used)
