Summary

This is a proposal for the Helium IoT network to update Proof of Coverage (PoC) beacons by introducing a random selection of transmit power, datarate and packet length. The existing PoC algorithm was designed to show maximum coverage with a limited number of beacons. The current beacon frequency allow us to utilize higher data rate capabilities and variable transmit power to collect a more complete picture of the network's capability. This proposal aims to enhance network reliability, improve the accuracy of coverage mapping, and increase security.
