i m currently using TG 1.6.4 but i used TG 1.2 for many years and i find that the instrument-adding has become way worse.
i used to be able to add an instrument in 3 clicks. now it takes 2648.
to me this is one of the main defects of the latest versions.

Could you please elaborate a bit?
Description is too short for me to understand your problem. so, please:

  • describe the procedure you follow with 1.6
  • describe what the procedure was with 1.2

of course !

ON TG 1.6

  1. try to add a bass track
  2. count how many clicks it takes

ON TG 1.2

  1. try to add a bass track
  2. count how many clicks it takes

i think the main problem comes from having to click on the toolbox and check so many parameters.

Could you please detail all operations needed on TG1.2?

Seems we are writing messages concurrently!
I corrected my previous message, I think I misunderstood what you meant by "adding an instrument" (I thought you wanted to import an instrument from a new soundfont)

Here is the detailed procedure with 1.6 to add a bass track, (or maybe I just did not understand what you were talking about??).
If this is your use case, could you please detail the procedure on TG 1.2 ?

  • open TG
  • click in toolbar on "Add Track"
  • double-click in tracks table on the newly created track, this opens "properties" dialog
  • next to "Instrument", click on "Settings" button
  • in "Instruments" dialog, click on "Add" button
  • rename the newly created instrument (e.g. "my bass guitar"), and choose associated sound in drop-down list
  • close dialog
  • in "Properties" dialog, associate "my bass guitar" to one track

aha no i wasnt talking abt sf.2 😅
i was talking about adding a track (any track).

i already know all the procedure u just described to add a track on TG 1.6 and choose the instrument.
the thing is that procedure is EXTREMELY long compared to the 1.2 procedure - which litterely used to require only 2-3 steps.

but thx for your reply !

So let me ask the question again: could you please describe the procedure in 1.2 to get to the same result?
Difficult to go any further without more details
