Rewarded Ad (App Install Ads) opens Google Play Store on infinite loop #3646

[REQUIRED] Step 1: Describe your environment

  • Unity version: 2021.3.43f1
  • Google Mobile Ads Unity plugin version: Tested on v9.2.0 and v9.2.1
  • Plugin installation method: .unitypackage
  • Platform: Android
  • Platform OS version: Android 11
  • Any specific devices issue occurs on: realme C12
  • Mediation ad networks used, and their versions: Admob with Unity Ads mediation

[REQUIRED] Step 2: Describe the problem

Steps to reproduce:

When an App Install Ad is shown, it redirects and opens Google Play Store automatically. When user clicks the Back button or navigates back to the game, it opens Google Play Store again. When user quits (swipe up) Google Play Store and taps the game, the game restarts.

User cannot finish and go back to the game to get their ad reward. App Install Ads infinitely loops on Google Play Store and crashes the app.

I am experiencing the same issue in my environment.
We have also received reports from many users stating that, after watching reward ads, they are unable to close the ad and are automatically redirected to the Play Store.

Unity version: 2022.3.22f1
Google Mobile Ads Unity plugin version: Tested on v9.2.0
Platform: Android (Android 11, 13)
Devices: Pixel 4, FCNT F-51C, and various other devices
Ad networks: Admob

I have the same problem. It happens every device I tested. I hope we don't get ban from admob.

Hi can you submit this issue this issue to support. Please include your ad unit IDs and a charles log of the bad request is possible.

I'm not sure which credentials to use as I don't have an @google.com account.

Where do I get the Charles Log?

For additional info, the issue is also encountered on the following devices:

  • TCL T506A - Android OS 12 / API-31
  • samsung SM-A325M - Android OS 12 / API-31
  • samsung SM-M236Q - Android OS 14 / API-34
