likely due to the fact that a few options only apply to new surfaces (tabs or splits) instead of already running ones like noted there, it could also have to do with also your comment about quick terminal not supporting tabs |

On Ghostty 1.0.1 on macOS 15.1.1 with Appearance set to Automatic, when I leave the terminal open for long enough that the OS switches from light to dark mode (or the other way around), the title bar still has the previous theme color. If I then create a new tab, that tab has its title bar color set correctly. The color theme of the terminal correctly adapts to the system theme.
