For the interspecies interaction terms, we want to only keep two branches: 'symbiont-mediated xxx' and 'venom-mediated xxx'.

The first task is to review all terms containing 'in another organism' , and hence not specifying whether the term describes a symbiont or the action of a venom component.

The list of terms is:

  • GO:0035807 | induction of blood coagulation in another organism
  • GO:0035894 | induction of platelet aggregation in another organism
  • GO:0044552 | vasodilation in another organism >> obsoleted

Plan:

  • Obsolete terms that are not used & propose alternatives if possible
  • Obsolete terms that have been used but that are also annotated to a venom or symbiont term
  • Decision for other terms will be described on a case-by-case basis as they are being reviewed.

GO:0044552 vasodilation in another organism:

  • change label to symbiont-mediated vasodilation in host
  • change defintion to A process in which a symbiont causes vasodilation of blood vessels in its host organism, usually causing a reduction in blood pressure. The host is defined as the larger of the organisms involved in a symbiotic interaction.
  • change reference to PMID:15637157
  • change parents to symbiont-mediated perturbation of host process
    +relationship: positively_regulates_in_another_organism GO:0042311 ! vasodilation
