I created an automatic workflow that changes the status to “Closed” and, as its only action, sends an email to the customer.
When I use the “Send and Close” action, the workflow email is sent, but the user’s reply—which should be dispatched before the ticket is closed—is not sent.
Checking the outgoing messages for that reply shows that there was no attempt to send it.

Can you attach screenshots of your Workflow's Conditions and Actions.
Also are there any errors or hanging tasks on Manage > System page?
