I was setting up Swift for a client on a VPS server that uses Centos and cPanel. I apparently chose the wrong settings for Port 465, to I tried 587 and 25. They didn't work, either. The most common error was "Failed to authenticate on SMTP server with username [email protected] using 1 possible authenticators," but sometimes I got other errors (sorry, I didn't copy them all).
Just to be 100% sure, I entered the password again. This time it worked!
Wrong password? Nope.
I got it working in port 25, but I really wanted 587. So I put that in with TLS and the errors started again. Once again, I re-entered the SAME password and it started working again.
So it seems like you can't update the credentials without re-entering the password. If that's a security feature, fine, but the requirement should be clearly stated. Instead, it currently says, "You only need to re-enter the password here if you wish to change it."
