From ec40b6e97ad273e52a4e143063e8d2a79623c534 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Mathieu Westphal Date: Mon, 25 Mar 2024 21:32:55 +0100 Subject: [PATCH] Adding watch option using dmon (#1308) This add support for an "--watch" cli option where the current file is reloaded automatically if changed on disk. It relies on https://github.com/septag/dmon for detecting the changes. In order to support this properly, F3DStarter is reworked with a proper event loops that currently supports: - Reloading the current file - Rendering This also adds a test for it on linux/apple/windows --- .cppcheck.supp | 1 + .github/actions/coverage-ci/action.yml | 1 + .tsan.supp | 4 + CMakeLists.txt | 4 + application/CMakeLists.txt | 7 + application/F3DOptionsParser.cxx | 1 + application/F3DOptionsParser.h | 1 + application/F3DStarter.cxx | 147 +- application/F3DStarter.h | 20 +- application/testing/CMakeLists.txt | 17 + application/testing/test_watch.ps1 | 30 + application/testing/test_watch.sh | 36 + doc/THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.md | 29 + doc/dev/GENERATE.md | 2 +- doc/user/INTERACTIONS.md | 6 +- doc/user/OPTIONS.md | 1 + external/dmon/dmon.h | 1748 ++++++++++++++++++++++++ testing/data/DATA_LICENSES.md | 1 + testing/data/cowlow.vtp | 3 + 19 files changed, 2020 insertions(+), 39 deletions(-) create mode 100644 application/testing/test_watch.ps1 create mode 100755 application/testing/test_watch.sh create mode 100644 external/dmon/dmon.h create mode 100644 testing/data/cowlow.vtp diff --git a/.cppcheck.supp b/.cppcheck.supp index d7ea722ec4..0fbb2a38f1 100644 --- a/.cppcheck.supp +++ b/.cppcheck.supp @@ -6,6 +6,7 @@ unknownMacro // external libraries *:external/nlohmann_json/nlohmann/json.hpp *:external/cxxopts/cxxopts.hpp +*:external/dmon/dmon.h // specific checks knownConditionTrueFalse:library/testing/TestSDKImage.cxx diff --git a/.github/actions/coverage-ci/action.yml b/.github/actions/coverage-ci/action.yml index ac8de6fde6..204b58e358 100644 --- a/.github/actions/coverage-ci/action.yml +++ b/.github/actions/coverage-ci/action.yml @@ -102,6 +102,7 @@ runs: lcov --remove coverage.info "*/dependencies/*" -o coverage.info lcov --remove coverage.info "*/cxxopts.hpp" -o coverage.info lcov --remove coverage.info "*/json.hpp" -o coverage.info + lcov --remove coverage.info "*/dmon.h" -o coverage.info lcov --remove coverage.info "*Test*" -o coverage.info - name: Upload coverage to Codecov diff --git a/.tsan.supp b/.tsan.supp index 81e23036db..33baf05278 100644 --- a/.tsan.supp +++ b/.tsan.supp @@ -10,3 +10,7 @@ race:libvtkCommonDataModel # OpenEXR race:libOpenEXR + +# dmon +# https://github.com/septag/dmon/issues/33 +race:dmon.h diff --git a/CMakeLists.txt b/CMakeLists.txt index 5a603389f4..048d608600 100644 --- a/CMakeLists.txt +++ b/CMakeLists.txt @@ -60,6 +60,7 @@ option(F3D_MODULE_EXR "OpenEXR images module" OFF) # Use externals option(F3D_USE_EXTERNAL_CXXOPTS "Use external cxxopts dependency" OFF) option(F3D_USE_EXTERNAL_NLOHMANN_JSON "Use external nlohmann_json dependency" OFF) +option(F3D_USE_EXTERNAL_DMON "Use external dmon dependency" OFF) if (F3D_USE_EXTERNAL_CXXOPTS) find_package(cxxopts REQUIRED) @@ -67,6 +68,9 @@ endif () if (F3D_USE_EXTERNAL_NLOHMANN_JSON) find_package(nlohmann_json REQUIRED) endif () +if (F3D_USE_EXTERNAL_DMON) + find_package(dmon REQUIRED) +endif () # VTK dependency # Optional components should list VTK modules diff --git a/application/CMakeLists.txt b/application/CMakeLists.txt index b8728f590c..9110b6bed9 100644 --- a/application/CMakeLists.txt +++ b/application/CMakeLists.txt @@ -57,6 +57,7 @@ elseif (MSVC) endif () target_include_directories(f3d PUBLIC $) + if (F3D_USE_EXTERNAL_CXXOPTS) target_link_libraries(f3d PRIVATE cxxopts::cxxopts) else () @@ -69,6 +70,12 @@ else () target_include_directories(f3d PUBLIC $) endif () +if (F3D_USE_EXTERNAL_DMON) + target_link_libraries(f3d PRIVATE dmon::dmon) +else () + target_include_directories(f3d PUBLIC $) +endif () + set(f3d_compile_options_private "") set(f3d_compile_options_public "") set(f3d_link_options_public "") diff --git a/application/F3DOptionsParser.cxx b/application/F3DOptionsParser.cxx index 3dbc858aaa..fa766bf8c1 100644 --- a/application/F3DOptionsParser.cxx +++ b/application/F3DOptionsParser.cxx @@ -311,6 +311,7 @@ void ConfigurationOptions::GetOptions(F3DAppOptions& appOptions, f3d::options& o this->DeclareOption(grp0, "dry-run", "", "Do not read the configuration file", appOptions.DryRun, HasDefault::YES, MayHaveConfig::NO );
