Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch app (no room timeline in memory etc.)
  2. Go to a room
  3. Don't scroll up, go to gallery
  4. Once some images appear, go back to room
  5. Scroll up in room

Outcome

What did you expect?

All messages to be always visible in timeline, no matter if media gallery is used before scrolling up in the room, or not.

What happened instead?

There's a gap in timeline, from ElementX always opens room [...] (link) to I am slowly frustrated [...] (link), missing a day's worth of messages. This might be the same spot in timeline to which the media gallery was able to load images from the room.

Here's the same spot in the room after force stopping app and relaunching, then going into the same room and just scrolling up. ElementX always opens room [...] (link) is visible, and the message preceding it is Thanks! (link), as expected.

Thanks for the report, have you enabled the SDK event cache?

No, it's disabled.

Then, it is more annoying. Thanks for logs. We will have a look.

I'm able to reproduce this with a newer Rust SDK (matrix-org/matrix-rust-sdk@adb4428) with event cache disabled
