Flickering on hover over the event bar

Steps to reproduce

1. Move mouse over event, bar appears
2. Move mouse to edge of one of the buttons
3. There's a very thin edge around the buttons where there seems to be a race between trying to interact with the button and not yet trying to interact with the button

What did you expect?

No flickering.

This might be related to #821. That issue mentioned the event proper and not the bar though, so unsure if it is the same problem.

Additional Information: The appearance settings are attached. Furthermore this is zoomed out 4 clicks (i.e. command - applied four times).

I unterstand this is a fringe setup and do not expect this to be fixed quickly if it is not reproducible on a more vanilla setup.
