I would immediately agree, that the current definition in ebucoreplus needs improvement, because it relies on the existence of "frameWidth" and "frameHeight" to be correctly interpreted. I would also agree with you that it's best to stick with the same solution as in media-frags, where X and Y represent the topleft corner.

when describing a region inside some media. However, I'm a bit confused by the semantics of X and Y:Should this be aligned? If possible, I would prefer them to be the same as https://www.w3.org/TR/media-frags/#naming-space, which is the most stable.
