find any service that is not Zookeeper
- turn off the service running on it
- stop the instances
find zookeeper instances
- stop zookeeper
- stop the instances
assumes that all the other services are independent, but may not be true
- spark may depend on Kafka
- spark and other services may depend on HDFS
