Discussion of decentralization tech? #84

I was thinking it would be cool to do a reading group discussion around the technical implementations of decentralization sometime (next semester?), since we bring it up pretty often but usually read more about the implications. Thoughts?

Collecting some resources toward this idea:

  • Jay Graber, Dec 2019 Comparing IPFS and Dat – this stands out in particular for the "High Level" section where it talks about a bit of the history, inspiration, & initial intent for the two projects (and then it talks about technical implementation).
  • Something on Filecoin – this Textile post is probably not the correct selection, but it does talk a bit about what Filecoin is trying to achieve
  • Dana's excellent IPFS & Dat explainer (or mine for those who prefer video form, when that comes out)
  • Carson Farmer from Textile – this video is very long but likely has some great selections for use cases and/or technical explanations
