Unit tests for Backends

The current framework has strong tests for almost everything, but seems not for the backends. If iisignature is installed, then then it seems that esig will not import because the target for IIsignature is somehow not properly exposed. But it has passed all the tests. There are other failings about this backend. Tests would trap them.
