Jumping to a passage opens an extra blank editor

Using either the passage list or the story map, the first time that I double-click on a passage to jump to it, an extra blank editor is opened. From the passage list, the extra editor opens on the right of the tw file; from the map editor, it opens to the right of the map. Once the extra editor is open then the extension works as expected, but if the extra editor is closed then it will reappear on the next passage jump.

I'm using the latest version of VS code (Version: 1.90.2), on Linux mint 21.1
