Rationale

Enabling staff to create digital stories will make it easier for end users to discover content. This will engage a wider audience by connecting narratives to items.

Outcomes

  • Enhanced Discoverability of Digital Content

Showcasing digital stories and items from both our organization and partner institutions will allow end users to have a new avenue for discovering the contents of our collections. Taking advantage of existing narrative-driven navigation systems that guide users through stories while highlighting associated items will make discoverability intuitive and engaging. Integration of dynamic links within stories that direct users to specific items, documents, or collections, enhancing the context and relevance of the digital content. For example, the creation of "story maps" that visually connect narratives to physical locations or artifacts associated with the stories.

  • Increased Audience Engagement

Leveraging social media to promote stories and linked items can attract a broader audience, including those who may not be familiar with the community’s narratives.
