Add a workaround for nix running out of build users

This is a temporary hack. We should think of a better way to solve this
problem.

The unreleased NixOS/nix@04967de change to Nix seems to make the change of 1ed2709 redundant. When a new version of Nix is released, I'll revert this commit in order to reduce technical debt. I'll keep this issue open for now.
