Event Activities

We develop and renew content for each year, but we offer a core set of activities to participate in BSides Orlando.

Sunshine Capture the Flag (CTF)

SunshineCTF is back for its 9th year in conjunction with BSides Orlando 2024 and hosted by current and former members of Hack@UCF. This year’s competition will include categories like pwn, reverse engineering, web, crypto, scripting, and something special!

SunshineCTF is an online competition that’s open to anyone, though some prizes (TBD) may only be given to the top-ranked in-person team(s) during the BSides Orlando closing ceremony.

Lockpick Village (LPV)

  The Lockpick Village is a physical security demonstration and participation area. Visitors can learn about the vulnerabilities of various locking devices, and techniques used to exploit them, and practice locks of various difficulty levels to try themselves. By exploring the faults and flaws in many popular lock designs, you can not only learn about the fun hobby of sportpicking, but also gain much stronger knowledge about the best methods and practices for protecting your own property.

Soldering Village

  Hone your skills and assemble your badge in our soldering village. This village is a great opportunity for beginners to get started with soldering. Never soldered before? No worries, we have staff available to assist you whether you're looking to learn a new skill or to improve your existing knowledge.

Information and Swag

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers in this space. After the success of last year we split the registration and swag lines to expedite entrance into the conference. Swag includes items from our fabulous sponsor and a sticker sheet themed for this year. Recycle and Upcycle your stickers or collect new ones! This area is available to drop off or pick up stickers.

Embarking on a journey into the cybersecurity realm? Whether you're new to the field or considering a shift within it, the Career Village is the place to gain valuable insights and guidance. You can have your resume reviewed, get a professional headshot, or participate in a mock interview. If you're hiring, you can post your available positions on our job board. Join us to enhance your career prospects and network with industry professionals. Check out the Career Village page for more information on how you can best prepare.

The human element to cybersecurity. Want to learn more about the psychology of the human mind, how magicians have been able to fool audiences and how threat actors have used employees of companies to gain unauthorized access to systems. Come visit the social engineering adventure and learn about the fun side of social engineering. We will have talks, OSINT exercises and learn about the psychology of building trust and rapport.

Community Village

If you’re representing another cybersecurity community organization, or interested in learning about the other local community organizations out there, this room is for you.

Unconference

If you have some wisdom to add, sign up for a lightning talk in the Unconference. Lightning talks are 15 minutes or less so it’s a great opportunity to acquire knowledge quickly. The Unconference features talks from other conference attendees that want to share their knowledge with you.
