Having the last changed date from the source wiki/Example.md file in the HTML rendered version would be useful for readers. I've seen an example putting the site rendering time-stamp in the footer, but that is less useful.

Maybe this Jekyll plugin?

Only a few Jekyll plugins are white-listed for use on GitHub pages https://help.github.com/articles/adding-jekyll-plugins-to-a-github-pages-site/ which points at the list here https://pages.github.com/versions/ which seems to actually be implemented via https://github.com/github/pages-gem/blob/master/lib/github-pages/dependencies.rb

Using any other plugin would mean doing the rendering to HTML ourselves, giving GitHub just the finished HTML to host. i.e. Not an attractive option.
