I know Bill passed away a few years back now, but I am still an avid user of Pikrellcam... there is still absolutely no better security camera software available for the Raspberry Pi !!!
I currently have 4 Raspberry Pi's of various models running Pikrellcam as security cameras around my house and will soon be installing a couple more.
There's only one real "issue" that I've run into recently... I now have an Alexa Show in the kitchen, and I'd really like to be able to just say "Alexa, show me the driveway" or "Alexa, show me the front door" so I can see if and when packages have arrived.
Has anyone had any success connecting their Pikrellcam stream to an Alexa Show?
I've tried, but I keep running into the problem of Alexa wanting me to enter the "brand name" of my IP camera, which of course there isn't one for a generic IP cam setup such as a Raspberry Pi running Pikrellcam... or is there?
I know the reason Alexa wants the brand name is so that their API is sending the correct commands to the camera's API.... but it seems there should be some "generic" API that Pikrellcam could use to communicate with Alexa? I don't need to access the servo or audio controls from Alexa, I only need to view the mjpeg stream from Pikrellcam on the Alexa Show screen.
If anyone can offer some instructions on how to make this work I would be very grateful.
Thank you.
