turns out that it jumps forward exactly the same percentage amount as start - min. (e.g. if the start slider is 5% away, clicking anywhere in the progress bar, will move progress to exactly start + 5%, or 2 * start.

And it only occurs during playback (i.e. clicking while stopped works fine). This should narrow down where the bug is quite a bit.
