This is a potential issue someone raised with us in the process of documenting the breadcrumbs component as part of the design documentation work.
They asked "what alternatives do we have for breadcrumbs than alphabetical order when the content is tagged to more than one topic?"
The assumption is that this will not always offer the most helpful breadcrumbs to users in the context of their user journey.

Potential starting points:

  • How much of an issues is this?
  • Are there any alternatives that are technically possible?
