Educational Impact

  • We didn’t understand at all that the goal was to make cleaning products.
  • The design doesn’t give the impression that it’s eco-friendly.
  • The graphics don’t match the theme.

Engagement Level

  • Slightly boring.

Favorite Part

  • The chemistry aspect is different from traditional code-breaking puzzles.

Least Favorite Part

  • The visual puzzles with zero clues were frustrating. People hate asking for hints because it makes them feel stupid.

Bugs or Issues

  • Refer to additional comments for issues such as missing feedback and visual inconsistencies.

Difficulty Balance

  • Too hard.

App-Card Integration

  • The integration was smooth.

Usability Feedback

  • It’s okay but could be improved. There should be a way to switch between different machines more easily.

Accessibility Rating

  • Average.

Additional Comments

  • Specify that the images are AI-generated and add legal mentions.
  • Include a unique identifier on the cards in case of duplicates.
  • Legal disclaimers are always included on card games. Add “Do not litter” on public roads.
  • The introductory card still has the old app name "EcoQuest." Redo this card and mention that it can be discarded.
  • Increase the clickable area for increment and decrement buttons, as they are too small.
  • When on a machine, people forget about the hints because, unlike "Unlock," the hints aren’t in the same associated page.
  • Buttons aren’t responsive enough; add sound feedback.
  • Users think that “54” is one of the five numbers to add.
  • The display of the keypad tiles is awful.
  • On machine 23, it’s unclear how many digits are required.
  • Testers started entering codes before finding the crowbar because its shadow is hard to see.
  • Saying "You don’t have the key for the shelf" is confusing because users start looking for an actual key.
  • Testers didn’t care about side quests and focused only on the main machine.
  • The crowbar is extremely broken.
  • They tried adding molecule numbers to open the door instead of using the mixing workshop.
  • Suggestion: Add a calculator to the user manual.
  • Specify the order of machines. For instance, display a pop-up when entering the second machine, advising users to try the correct one or include hints.
  • Casual gamers find the game too complicated.
  • Use the icon of a book instead of plain metal boxes for the vial puzzle.
  • Add a “I love Chemistry 31” sticker on the door to redirect players to the chemistry aspect.
  • Perhaps add an "=" at the end of calculation lines to avoid impossible math scenarios.
  • Testers lost significant time because they didn’t see the books and didn’t realize they needed to craft something.
  • Remove penalties on the mixer. Confirm with @MaximeTAlgosup.
  • The link between the dystopian theme and the educational mission is unclear.
  • Increase the contrast for important elements.
  • For storytelling, add something like a postcard from a deceased friend.
  • Focus more on the user manual.
  • There are no personas defined for the game.
  • The app’s fonts are too varied. Use the hint font only for the hints.

Clear Time
37 minutes 28 seconds

What was your experience with the game?
It was fun, but frustrating at times.

Was the game difficult to play?
No, it was pretty easy.

Did you learn anything about climate change?
Dimitri: No
Steve: Yes

What complaints do you have?

  • UI responsiveness
  • Slow animation speed at the start of the game
  • Didn't pick up card number 8, thus resulting to not being able to pick it up again, since card number 20 tells you to remove card number 12.
  • Crowbar doesn't have a number in the elevator card.
  • The bar on the mixing chemicals machine misleads you into thinking that it fills once even if you didn't click fill, since the bar raises slightly , resulting in entering the wrong amount constantly.
  • card number 48 and 58 didn't show up on the machine.(this might have been fixed on a newer version I'm not sure.)

Do you have any additional thoughts?

  • The game was very fun, I like the idea of the enigmas.
  • The tutorial puzzle I didn't like, the way it is written doesn't make sense, the idea doesn't really link.
  • Making typos penalizes you, which seems excessive, maybe give timeouts when entering codes.
  • The chemicals where a good idea, first puzzle seemed harder than the chemical one. Perhaps make a small smudge on the board to indicate that you have to clean it.
  • Digitalizing the cards would be cool.
