A) We all think the OS page is missing a certain je ne sais quoi. Look into that.

B) Can this page be generalized beyond OSes? I think it can. Look into that.

I think the problem with the generalization is that there's a lot less OSes than there are other categories of software; risks of probability explosion.

I agree the OS page is ugly and special-cased though. It's by Popular Demand™ though.

This is wrt the idea of other kinds of categories following a similar theme, e.g. a page that lists "80s applications" broken up into a similar system of simple overarching categories but then listing specifically curated items under each one, which is easy to create and maintain but isn't a database dump and also isn't entirely handwritten (e.g. data driven)

In that case, perhaps they could be pages with something like a way to get the page renderer to embed a filtered list. Perhaps integrate into stories?
