For the VzBot project, when using stepper motors, NEMA 17 steppers are recommended. The aim is to find the balance between top speed and top torque (the two are often mutually exclusive).
Manufacturer | Model Number | Size | Deg. | Ind. | Amp. | Res. | Link |

LDO | LDO-42STH47-2504AC | 47mm | 1.8° | 2.5A | 1.8mH | 1.25Ω | https://www.ratrig.com/hardware2/electronics/nema-17-stepper-motor.html |

E3D | High Torque | 48mm | 0.9° | 2.8A | 2.8mH | 1.65Ω | https://e3d-online.com/products/motors |
Here you can see the theoretical achievable speeds for different motors running at 48V.
Supplying your stepper drivers with a higher voltage allows them to maintain their torque for higher speeds. Higher torque equals higher acceleration.
Going from 24V to 48V shifts the point from which the torque drops off to the right. Changing from 24V to 48V would allow you to maintain the acceleration and go double the speed.
