A new request, maybe the subtivals' next generation and version 2:
a video/audio player that plays a media inside the program to simulate the subtitling project.

Nope, never :)

However, we could imagine to send start/stop signals to a running instance of VLC, using DBUS for example :
https://wiki.videolan.org/DBus-usage/

Don't know about Windows or MacOS support though.
