You didn't search for other tickets. DA has been a known problem for ages cuz no one has had the motivation to do it either the basic ways or through Selenium.

I know how DA currently works, but I'm happy I can do anything with this lack of general motivation.

Ah, I can see why. The OP worded it confusingly, I presume he meant either

1. https://github.com/mikf/gallery-dl which someone had tested to work on Eclipse.
2. it's possible to rip pics as far as the site structure is concerned.

I can't speak for gallery-dl, but it's very possible to rip Eclipse. It's actually simpler in some sense, but they introduced undocumented rules that dictate which files are shown from smallest to biggest, so optimizing the code to take all options into consideration in correct order will be a long-time research; you usually don't get all the options, and more often that not they tend to differ between uploads.
