The operator-sdk that was used when this project was bootstrapped was v0.12. Currently v1.8.1 is out.
There are many breaking changes, so the authors recommend recreating a new project layout and importing the existing code into the new structure. See https://sdk.operatorframework.io/docs/building-operators/golang/migration/ for more details.
