With Chang a number of changes are coming, including

CIP-69/CIP-117 support for Plutus v3 scripts
New primitives available in Plutus v3
Plutus v1 reference scripts enabled
New reference script fees
New cost model settings - overall costs should be reduced for most Plutus scripts (v1, v2 and v3)
Governance scripts will be possible
