Hello All!
Thank you all for our fifth (final!) session. It was so impressive and inspiring to see the leaps you make in the short time of the Cohort. A huge thank you to all the NASA Openscapes mentors for their generosity in contributing and supporting in so many ways. It was really super to see how you learned from each session and used
earthaccess
, the Cookbook, and the Cloud Clinic in your own work. We heard your pain points with Matlab, HDF, and cloud formats, and will be working to improve these, so please continue to ask questions and share your experiences.Funding opportunities! Joel Scott, Program Executive for NASA Earth Science Data Systems (ESDS), residing in the Chief Science Data Office (CSDO) encourages you to get in touch with him ([email protected]) to talk about funding opportunities via NSPIRES and is happy to connect folks with others in the CSDO too.
Openscapes would also love your feedback so we can improve future cohorts - including the upcoming fall NMFS cohorts; please fill out this survey by June 30. You’re now a part of this broader Openscapes community across NASA Earthdata, NOAA Fisheries, California EPA, and academic research teams that share some common goals and challenges. We’re all here to support each other; many are in Slack. We hope you feel a bit more confident about what’s possible with Cloud and open science with your teams and colleagues. This is just the beginning.
We’ve created a specific DOI for our NASA Champions Cohort (and also updated this in our Call 5 Agenda). Thanks for your feedback; we will follow up with a Certificate of Completion.

We look forward to continuing to support your journeys! If you can make it, please join us for a ~3 month check in so we can see what everyone is up to. We'll send a calendar invite for September or October soon.
Please have someone from each team email/direct message Stef [email protected] a physical address where we can send stickers via postal service! We'll ask that you distribute them within your team.
We hope you can carry the inspiration forward with our rockin' Openscapes Spotify Playlist - updated with your tunes!
