Problem
Bad behaviour towards some WinMM patched MIDI players (PFA, TMIDI, Kiva (currently going to try other ones))

Steps to reproduce

  • PFA: Open any MIDI file, if any part of the MIDI is intense enough, playback will horrendously slow down or lag so much worse than being unpatched
  • TMIDI: Simply switching to KDMAPI crashes it immediately
  • Kiva (did not patch this one as it's already patched out of the box): same as TMIDI, and in the WinMM tab, "OmniMIDI" doesn't work

Expected behavior: none of the above happens

Screenshots/Videos

Environment

  • Operating system: Windows 10 Pro for Workstations (China) 21H2
  • CPU: Xeon E3-1231 v3
  • RAM: 16GB
  • MIDI application: PFA (1.1.0), TMIDI, Kiva (1.1.15)
  • Version of the driver: 14.6.13

p/s im new to github and have no idea how to flag

Reduce the frequency to 48kHz.
I don't think your PC is capable of 384kHz.

weird enough because both 44.1KHz and 48KHz did not help, it seemed sampling rate really is not the issue. might retry again sometime
