It might be possible to instead only create one other editor (for the 'after' state). Then, we would observe its rendered context and place it instead in interspersed views.
The upside to this approach would be that a lot of other features might work. But it would be a lot more work to get it to run properly. For now I'd argue neither is worth the effort.
