Unless we can avoid it, because it would significantly increase load times. But some languages may need context from previous and next lines in order to color properly.

It might be possible to instead only create one other editor (for the 'after' state). Then, we would observe its rendered context and place it instead in interspersed views.

The upside to this approach would be that a lot of other features might work. But it would be a lot more work to get it to run properly. For now I'd argue neither is worth the effort.
