Is it possible to apply to Zathura, without it changing the colors of pictures?

I know this is a late reply, but this isn't possible as far as I know. Just based on how the renderer for Zathura itself works, whenever you apply the recolor, it will always effect the images, because it's more like an inversion on the lightness value of everything while putting it into "greyscale." From what I can tell, the way that Zathura Pywal renders things, is using swapping the grayscale values that Zathura would normally use with those generated by your pywal configuration. You can use the command :set recolor-keephue true which will only let the recolor invert the lightness, but keep the hue and saturation the same. Zathura is a PDF renderer, and with that, it's agonstic to whatever it's rendering whether that be text, images, diagrams, etc.
