My old Sonic 3 & Knuckles gamesaves that were created when I was using a different version of Gens aren't working in Gens/GS. When I load up just normal gens, the SRAM loads fine, but in Gens/GS, the gamesaves are completely blank. I hope this is simply a problem of file extensions. My SRAM files have the "srm" extension.
The version of Gens that I was using when the SRAM files were created was the newest version of the old Gens before you made your own fork of it.

I just tested an SRAM file created in Gens 2.15.5, and it did load properly in Gens/GS r7. Make sure your SRAM file is located in the correct directory. (You may have directory paths set in old Gens; I think I may have reorganized these in Gens/GS, so it may be defaulting to the gens.exe directory.)

Actually, I just moused over the icon and it says I only have Gens 2.1.4.0. Hmm..
Also, I just checked the directories on both forks of Gens, they both say C:\Program Files\Sega Genesis\SRAM

Oh, no wonder. The only version of Gens 2.15.5 has to be compiled. I hate compiling things, but I guess for some reason he was just too lazy to make separate downloads for Linux and Windows. Ugh....
IF I can even get this thing to compile at all, I'm going to try to load the SRAM files in Gens 2.1.5.5, save them again, and see after that if they load in Gens/GS.

Gens 2.15.5 appears to be Linux only.
I'll test it in Gens 2.14 for Windows and see if the problem still happens here.

Try setting the SRAM directory to "." (no quotes) and copy the original game save file to the same directory as gens.exe. I'm thinking it might be a bug in the pathname resolution code.
