It is currently not documented. Features should be documented on the wiki. Feel free to create a new wiki page if you cannot find an existing page that is suitable.

But is this a general thing, or do they work in a special way in Red?

They do work on a special way in Red... every operator works in a special way in Red...
They are special because it needs to be transformed into AST... and it’s not possible to overwrite && or ||
