When I hear a piece that I like, I usually try to play it on the piano by ear (often there are no scores that exist), and I often have to rely on technologies like central channel extract and demix neural networks. So, I’m excited when I hear that Apple Music supports 5.1 and 7.1 multichannel music playback, because it might help me with this process.
However, I’m not sure how to record it. I certainly know how to record stereo audio with blackhole, but I’m not sure how to set that up to capture 5.1 or 7.1 surround audio. Is that supported for Apple Music?
What I've tried so far:
Install 16ch driver and set as system output
Set Dolby Atmos to "off" in Apple Music. Sound in the first two channels.
Set Dolby Atmos to "automatic" in Apple Music. Dolby Atmos icon shows in Apple Music. Apple Music continue to show song being played. No sound in any channels.
