I think you're trying to solve the same problem here (and #113)

in the ISO schema, this would be one of the properties on CI_Online resource, which include protocol, applicationProfile, Name, description (all characterString), and function (which has a codelist). No link type...

Link type detection in the GeoPortal is handled in the configuration of the Lucene index. GeoPortal is not making use of the "protocol" specified in the CL_Online Resource, although that would be logical. I just added some directions in (#113) that point at the specifics, and that solution can also be adapted for this ticket.

Sorry, when I saw GeoPortal I thought you were talking about the ESRI Geoportal ...

Hmmm, we are talking about the ESRI Geoportal. I think the problem Todd reported above is specific to the WCGA installation, and relates to their custom UI...
