StayOnTop lets you set windows to persist on top even when working on active windows behind it. You can set any program window in Windows to do this as well as many windows you'd like.
Here is an example of keeping a website on top to reference as ypu code behind it. Great for multi tasking and watching media while working in another program!
(It performs perfectly fine the video is just bad becuase github has a max filesize limit. Click this for a link to the img page with a bit more decent qaulity)
- Download StayOnTop.exe from This Link or clone the repo if you're comfortable with git.
- Run the .exe
- Open the window you want to stay on top and click on the top taskbar for the window to make sure it is the selected active window
- Type Ctrl+Spacebar
The page should now persist on top and allow you to use the window actively underneath
To stop always on top either exit the oage or go to your tray in the taskbar and right click on the atom icon StayOnTop and select pause script.
You will need to run the StayOnTop.exe every time you restart your computer. If your would like for it to automatically run on start follow these steps.
- Copy the StayOnTop.exe to
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp
- Restart your pc
- You should see the Atom icon in your system tray in the taskbar after startup
- Activate anytime by going to the window you want to keep on top and pressing Ctrl+Spacebar
