BUG - the syntax highlighter is making ' appear as black boxes #10

It seems that the syntax highlighter is making ' purple on black background. It ends up looking like this:

I noticed this in the plr doc so I am not sure if it is global or not.

Probably not browser specific but in case it is:
FF on Fedora 30
