A newsfeed mashup of github, twitter activity for authors, and cpan as a whole would add a lot to the social aspect of the site.

It would be nice if this could collect the various XP (experience points) and badges and whatnot of the people from the sites they are using thereby providing a central place for competition and maybe even for employers to check the experience level of the person.

https://github.com/christianv/jquery-lifestream accomplishes this task very nicely. Forking and adding functionality for cpan activity would allow lifestream to handle both main page feed and per author pages.

@szabgab: you should submit this as a different issue. I don't see how badges would appear in an RSS/Atom feed. However badges would be appropriate on the author page. I think that hosting Google Gadgets on the author page would be the solution.

@mphill22: jquery-lifestream is great, and as it is done one the client side there would be no load on the MetaCPAN server.
