Tab Select

I've seen where there has been some sort of discussion on tab select but I can't seem to find where that concluded. If I tab OUT of the control, I feel like it should auto-select the selected option. I've looked at the code and it seems like it would be a pretty straight forward addition. Is there any downside to this?

Also, if it has been decided that this shouldn't be in the control, is there any ideas on how to simulate this feature? I've tried manually dispatching the event in JS but it doesn't seem to work and I'm unsure why.
