Abstract

What would you like to do? Describe your project/idea in a few sentences.
Quidli is a micro on-ramp connecting Web 2.0 apps and web3 assets for you to embed crypto rewards and incentives into your collaboration workflows to boost participation and motivation. We enables you to recognize your top contributors natively in your Slack and or Discord, and is mainly used today by community managers who want to leverage community engagement on social media. Quidli users include the community teams NEAR Foundation, ETHDenver, OrangeDAO, iExec, Tezos, and Solana Foundation.

Description

The overall and broad proposal description.

We propose to you to build a light integration of NEO Blockchain to Quidli by adding NEO to our API and hosted app environment. This will enable you to seamlessly distribute NEO tokens as rewards to the top active participants in your community directly in your Slack or Discord.

In addition to helping you internally share NEO tokens within your ecosystem, this integration lets us offer NEO to our user base of 1000+ organizations as an option via Quidli’s open token platform.

Once completed, NEO token will be available as an option on:

  1. Quidli web app

  2. Quidli Slack app

  3. Quidli Discord app

  4. Any subsequent integrations built by Quidli

Motivation

Why are you requesting funding? Is there anything that triggered your interest and would like to share with us? Through this initial partnership, we’d like to help NEO to build an awesome community and ecosystem by enabling you to effectively boost community engagement using token incentives. Sharing more tokens with community members can help you to establish a positive alignment flywheel leading to more contributions and ultimately growth towards your main mission and objectives.

Quidli can also help NEO increase number of new holders: Quidli is used by 1100+ organizations today, and we experienced >$3m in transaction volume over past 12 months. Our platform has a majority of Web2 companies, in particular freelance companies (for example: Flexiple) which use Quidli as a means of payment and rewards for their freelancers (bonus, % of salary). We also work with web3 incubators (Consensus, dlab) who use Quidli on their internal slack server to encourage the founders and start-ups in their portfolio to create a community spirit.

Goals

What are the main goals, and why?
How would you bring value to the community?

Our values proposition for NEO:

• Increase community engagement and retain your top contributors, make them feel they are the most valuable asset by rewarding them and recognize their work.

• Rely on community members referrals as your first source of acquisition and rewards them for their contribution.

• Use Quidli metrics in order to better understand how to build a better community on Discord.

Today there are 700+ organizations using Quidli, with the majority not having/using their own token. Once your token is available on Quidli, it will be available as an option to these teams. We believe this integration can boost your token visibility to new holders. Actually, we already have a couple of our current users interested in using it as micro-incentive rewards within their community.

Deliverables & Roadmap

1st Milestone: 1 week

We review the necessary technical documentation (blockchain, smart contracts, token, etc.). If additional docs and or consultation is needed, we’ll contact you to get connected with the appropriate person/team for guidance.

Budget: 0%

2nd Milestone: 2 weeks

Integration should be in place, and we start testing to ensure the new token is functional and usable within our environment. FYI, we will ask you to send some NEO in order to perform these initial tests.

Budget: 50% (175 NEO)

3rd Milestone: 1 week

  • Review the integration with the NEO team.

  • Create & publish PR announcing NEO on Quidli as well as this initial partnership.

Budget: 50% (175 NEO)

-> Total duration: 4 weeks

-> Total budget: 350

Deliverables Verifiability

1st Milestone - Measurement of success to release payment: Green light from our devs team to move to the token integration step.

2nd Milestone - Measurement of success to release payment: Successfully integrated NEO into Quidli’s micro on-ramp environment.

3rd Milestone - Measurement of success to release payment: Validation of the deliverable by the NEO grant team.

Budget Plan

  • We will integrate the NEO smart contract to our app's blockchain environment, as well as manage & mantain NEO in our app and across all current and future integrations.
  • This 350 NEO grant will cover the initial development work + our maintenance costs + give Quidli exposure to NEO.

Hi @Lukerio - Thanks for the proposal. Can you explain why you feel the NEO token specifically is a good choice for integration into Quidli? Do you foresee any development challenges?

Sure @deanragnarok !
On the ecosystem side, we think community is, in particular in Web3, really thrives on the engagement of their members. It’s a cornerstone of any ecosystem growth, especially in crypto.
I saw that you really valued contributors https://neo.org/contributors#outstanding-contributors and the NEO community is super active within your discord server: I noticed there are #content-creators, #community channels, and more devs focus. We want to be a support tool for you and help you incentivize and keep motivated your best contributors. Here are some interesting uses case that might be of interests for you: https://docs.quid.li/gettingstarted/use-cases/community-engagement.
The main challenge devs would be on Milestones 1 and 2, but we did succesfully integrated tokens in the past.

Hi @Lukerio - Thanks for the response. I understand why you would choose Neo as an ecosystem, but I'm more curious as to why you would choose NEO as the token to integrate?

@Lukerio

Lukerio commented Sep 5, 2023

Hi @deanragnarok! Not sure I can say much more than what I said in the my post and response:

  • For the NEO community: Increase NEO engagement and build a recognition culture amongst your community members. As mentionned, I think our tool could be a good fit as you're very focus on community engagement already.
  • Gain new holders as we will give exposure to NEO token within our existing users and communities.

We can also integrate NEO + GAS within this integration work if it's easier

@Mrxdaunknown
Copy link

@Lukerio I think what dean wanted to ask was: Why would you want to choose NEO as the token to integrate, it´s not really meant as a reward. I guess you have taken a look at the Neo blockchain a bit, right? Then you would know, that NEO is not divisible. You could make use of bNEO or GAS (just like you said) instead.

My opinion about the proposal as community member: I like the engagement farming idea and rewarding systems. With the Discord bot from NNT, we already have something similar. But another one could be a good addition, maybe.

What I´m interested in:

  • How many (active) community members and communities are currently using Quidli?
  • Your Twitter account is small for a community platform (even though it´s 5 years old), is there a reason for that?

@deanragnarok
Copy link

@Lukerio - @Mrxdaunknown is correct. I'm trying to get a sense of how much you've looked into Neo as an ecosystem and a technology. As mentioned, NEO is not divisible. You also need GAS to be able to perform transactions with NEO or any other token. Further, NEO holders are entitled to claim GAS rewards, so you'd need to be set up to handle that also or users may not be able to access their funds. It was not immediately obviously to me that any of these things had been considered.

Looking your GitHub I can see that you are looking at many grant programs, and that's totally fine. But you must understand we get a lot of copy / paste proposals here. Part of our job is to try and weed out those that are honestly looking to bring something to Neo and those who are just playing the numbers game. For me to have confidence Neo is not just another spray and pray for Quidli - especially if you're asking for the maximum funding amount available - I'd need to have confidence that you have some understanding of our ecosystem and tokenomics, and that you're interested in working with and growing Neo, not just plugging in another token for the sake of it.

Two bits of feedback I will provide: Your ask is a bit high. We haven't had any proposals successfully collect the full 5,000 NEO, and those that have been distributed larger amounts have had much more detailed proposals or a proven history within the ecosystem. Secondly, if you'd like to revise your ask, I'd also recommend completing your first milestone and including the results of that in your proposal. It's hard for us to take a leap of faith with a project when reviewing the technical documentation is on the to-do list. I feel, at least, this should be done before asking for funds.

Lukerio commented Sep 6, 2023

Thank you both for your answers, I appreciate! @deanragnarok @Mrxdaunknown

I understand that my approach may seem a bit " opportunist ". To give you a bit more context about me: I'm on the business and partnership side.
Regarding the grants approach: Grants are often the easiest way to get in touch with teams (or to get feedback on what we're building, what we need to improve, etc.). Most of the orgs we want to be in touch with just ghost us everytime and it doesn't help us moving forward.
Also, we only use grants for staking or playing with DeFi applications, for example.

To be completely transparent, I'm not an expert or a builder, I'm mainly interested in seeing if there are any possible synergies from a community point of view.
My role is dual:

  • Identify and discuss with crypto organizations that focus on the community side. I've been through your website, forum and discord and I've seen a lot of great things about the initiatives in place for your community, especially for devs: very active discord, and the setting up of regular hackathons for example.
    I've also seen that other initiatives in your ecosystem are moving in the same direction and Quidli can also fit in: https://neonewstoday.com/exchanges/flamingo-launches-ambassador-program-to-reward-community-building-efforts/.
  • Also, offer our users new crypto that they can use to incentivate their community.

@Mrxdaunknown Concerning our community: we're a SaaS, and we've historically had customers from the web2 world (freelance companies who share bonuses with their freelancers or employees using Quidli) who are less present on Twitter. Also, as you can see, we're a small team and I'm on my own to manage marketing, sales, customer success, sometimes legal... Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to manage community management on Twitter, which is a shame.
We're turning more to the development of web3 functionalities: creation of bounties and missions to automatically reward your members (follow, like and share on twitter for example), the quidli app is now available on telegram, and you can log-in via your metamask on our web app.

@Mrxdaunknown Here’s some key numbers we observed in Q1 and Q2 2023 on Quidli:

  • Nb of organizations: 1100+
  • transaction volume: ~$1.2m (send, deposit, withdraw,...).
  • Nb of transactions: ~50k/month.
  • Types of orgs: Remote companies, online communities, web3 organizations, DAOs.
  • Use cases: Recognition, rewards, incentives devs, rewarding ambassador programs.

The amount: I think there's an erratum concerning the amount, I'm talking about the equivalent of $5000 in NEO, or 650 NEO at the current rate. We can integrate the GAS token and FLM in addition if you like.

Roadmap: We can transform these 3 milestones into 1 single milestone if that's easier for you?

I hope I've answered as well as I can, and sorry again if my asked sounds too "opportunist", I've been doing my search for the community part at least and will be more careful.

@Mrxdaunknown
Copy link

@Lukerio - Thanks for your quick response and details. I tried your app, but couldn´t find an option for telegram. I did a login via metamask, but only Discord or Slack was shown to me. Telegram would be most interesting, because crypto/WEB3 is a lot happening there.
About the amount: Well, maybe it´s best then to edit the GrantShares issue then, if "only" $5000 in NEO is needed. Just my opinion, but I´m not a GrantShares member.

About Twitter: I was just wondering why, because I thought a lof of communities are engaged there and would at least follow quidli then. But if you had a lot of customers from web2, who are not really active on Twitter, then it´s an explanation :).
Without my FrankCoin community I would have no Twitter account as well.

About the key numbers: I´m not really into it, but I would say these are good numbers. $1,2 million transaction volume is not bad, when you take into account that users are mostly tipping cents or only a few $ at best

Thanks again for answering and good luck :).
If Telegram really is supported, then as a community member I´m interested in it. Tipping bots on Telegram are not supporting Neo coins or have high fees.

Hi @Mrxdaunknown

The telegram version of Quidli is in Alpha. There are still a few bugs, but the product should be live by the end of the month :)

For on-ramp/off-ramp, the amounts are explained by web2 companies which on-ramp more than web3 orgs, on the other hand, internal transactions (send) are more frequent for web3 companies (on small amounts) make the transaction volume go up.

Let me know if you have any further questions and if you'd like to move forward @deanragnarok .

Best,

I like Quidli's bot, it is fantastic. However, I have a doubt about the budget. I am not convinced that the last milestone should close 2500 Neo as it is more than 15,000 USD now (and will be worth more).

Hi @steven1227, Thanks for your reply! As mentionned in my previous comment, there's been an error in the amount: we're asking for 422 NEO (the equivalent of $3,000 today) in order to integrate the various NEO ecosystem tokens (NEO, GAS, and all the ecosystem tokens).
I can't update my proposal with the new figures. Let me know in the comments if this makes sense to you?

I'll try to summarize the benefits of Quidli for Neo here:

  • Anyone using Slack, Discord, Telegram can integrate Quidli in their channels and reward members with NEO or GAS, possibly attracting new users interested in the ecosystem.
  • Inside of the Neo Discord channels it could server as a competitor to the GasBot

@Lukerio, Is that a fair summary for Quidli?

Besides that: How easy is it to get the GAS/NEO out of Quidli? Is it Quidli's goal to keep users on their app?

@Lukerio
Copy link

Lukerio commented Nov 1, 2023

You did a great summary @csmuller! I would add that we create automated rewards flow using our "bounties", you can see an example here: https://docs.quid.li/gettingstarted/product-overview/features/create-reward-flows

Regarding your question, you have the possibility to "lock-up" the crypto you send to members, so that they will not be able to withdraw. Otherwise, users can withdraw their tokens from at any time. However, as we're currently subsidizing the majority of network fees imposed, we do require a minimum fiat value amount of $20 USD at the time of withdrawal.

@csmuller
Copy link
Contributor

csmuller commented Nov 3, 2023

It's a bit of a pity that users are not able to withdraw rewarded tokens to their own wallets below $20 USD. The use case of onboarding a user onto a Neo wallet via a small GAS reward is lost by that. But, maybe you will change that in the future. In the case of GAS you could easily use a small part of the users newly won GAS to pay for the transaction into their wallet.

From reading the FAQ, I assume that Quidli does not handle all transactions on-chain. Is it correct that only when I withdraw tokens they actually get transacted from "your" on-chain account to an "outside" one?
Basically, Quidli is the custodian of the funds while they are being used inside of Quidli, right?

@Lukerio
Copy link

Lukerio commented Nov 3, 2023

As mentioned above, as we currently subsidize the majority of the network fees charged, we require a minimum of $20 in cash at the time of withdrawal.
As the funding request for this integration project is 350 NEO (i.e. $3,500 instead of the initial $3,000), we will not charge fees regarding the NEO community, but we will keep a minimum withdraw limit of $10. Would that be all right @csmuller ?

Quidli is currently hosted in order to provide a user experience that is streamlined, accessible and scalable for the long-term. And although we take a custodial approach today, we are working towards greater decentralization and non-custody while already working with community manager at top web3 organizations who are more focused on growing their communities efficiently rather than using the latest dapp for work that doesn’t immediately require decentralization

Hey @Lukerio, we at AxLabs took the time to carefully consider your proposal. Even though it's a great proposal, with good scope and obvious value, we will not endorse it for now. Other DAO Members are free to endorse, if they feel like it, no problem.

The reason is mostly the overlap with the GasBot project, which offers a similar solution.

Anyway, feel free to further discuss and/or other DAO Members to consider an endorsement if they feel so.
