Abstract

What would you like to do? Describe your project/idea in a few sentences.
Please, be short and concise here! Brevity is key.

Proposal Information

Description

Raremind is an online chess prediction and community platform. We are launching the first prediction and community platform for chess enthusiasts to predict moves and outcomes in games played by the world’s top players and to compete with each other through personalized leaderboards. Raremind's vision is to enhance the online chess world with a multi-faceted Web3 platform, gamifying chess to earn rewards with special
leaderboards accessible through NFTs and other game modes.

The primary focus is to initialize the gamified mode by letting users from Chess.com and Lichess.org connect their Web2 accounts and convert the points they earned on these platforms into our future token. Additionally, we plan to have a Prediction Market focused on specific moves, strategic choices, and game outcomes in matches featuring the world’s top chess players. We also plan to automatically create online leagues
backed by well-known chess influencers with more than 1.5 million YouTube followers.

Motivation

Why are you requesting funding? Is there anything that triggered your interest and would like to share with us?

Neo is an established project with an underserved ecosystem that we would like to target. A grant will motivate us to build on Neo.

Goals

What are the main goals, and why?
How would you bring value to the community?

Chess is a popular game, and Raremind adds a Web3 element to it. Raremind will bring more activity and transactions to the Neo X chain, as well as provide more fun opportunities for the community, whether by playing the game themselves or betting on the world’s top players.

Deliverables & Roadmap

Deliverables & Roadmap

Specify deliverables in detail, including the following info for each:

A collection of 300 Neo X-based ERC721 NFTs (NFTs give access to special leaderboard on Raremind)

● Total Estimated Duration: 30 days

● Full-Time Equivalent (FTE): 1

● Total Budget: 800 GAS

10-20% of future Raremind token to be created (deployed) on Neo X. We will also create an LP pool on a Neo X DEX for Raremind token<>GAS or a stablecoin.

● Total Estimated Duration: 90-180 days (the token is planned for Q2 2025)

● Full-Time Equivalent (FTE): 1

● Total Budget: 950 GAS

Deliverables Verifiability

How would the community be able to verify that the promised deliverables (or milestones) were successfully achieved?
For each deliverable/milestone, add supporting info on how it can be verified by the community.

Both token and NFTs will be verifiable via the block explorer. 300 Neo X-based ERC721 NFTs will be available on https://marketplace.raremind.com/

Users will be able to connect their Neo X wallets, buy, sell and create offers.

Budget Plan

  • What are the overall required resources (i.e., budget)? We ask for 7000 USD as a total fee for
the work. We also ask for marketing like retweets, articles about Raremind.
  • Provide reasons why the requested budget is a good fit for the proposal. Based on the market research, the
investment we’ve already made into Raremind and the value Neo ecosystem brings
to us, we believe this is a reasonable amount.
  • How the budget would be used to achieve the project goal? Mostly for paying the developer team that
    we already have.

About You / Your Organization

Short-Bio

We are a team of 5 people, two co-founders and 3 developers. I (Robert Fontaine) have been in crypto since
2016, worked at Tezos for 2.5 years and launched NFT projects in the past.

My co-founder is a web3 lawyer and DeFi player.

Portfolio of Projects / Past Experience

Provide information about what you've
done in the past. What is your experience? What did you build/achieve in the
past?

We have a beta version live with 100 players, without any marketing or social activities. We are in discussions with Chess.com, which has 100 million Web2 users, to activate the prediction market
platform on Raremind.

There's no problem if you don't have vast past experience or a portfolio. We just want to hear more about what you've done or have been doing.

  1. Why NeoX and not Neo N3?
  2. Not sure I get the value that the platform is supposed to give to people. They'd get some points, NFTs and then... what exactly? They can play their game, have leaderboards and whatever else without Raremind as well. Betting can be done in a simpler fashion. What problem Raremind is trying to solve?
  3. @robert-raremind is some new account and https://github.com/Raremind-Chess has zero public repositories, why should we trust you?

Howdy @robert-raremind! Thanks for submitting your proposal to GrantShares. I love chess and would love to get better, but it seems like every time I take 3 steps forward, I fall back 4 steps, hehe. I've also been using Chess.com since 2012! I've long sought a way to incorporate some sort of betting on chess matches into blockchain, but I like the approach your team is taking with adding points/rewards to the platform.

Can you help me better understand the request behind the funding - why does the team need 800 GAS to deploy an ERC-721 if it's more or less copy-paste of EVM code from other chains? Does the team plan to sell the Raremind NFC-721s?

Beyond the liquidity for the LP, how else will the GAS funded by GrantShares be deployed on Raremind?

What other ecosystems is the team building in? Are you also applying from grants in those ecosystems?

What are some other steps on the roadmap? What have your beta testers helped you uncover that you didn't know before?

I work on the Neo News Today team, so I'd most likely be covering Raremind if the project is approved by GrantShares, and Neo X is incorporated into the platform! Thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions! Cheers.

Hi @robert-raremind - I'm having a vague memory... Did you guys pitch at Aus Crypto Con last year, or do I have you confused with another project?
