Are there any plans to support the runit init system? It's primarily used by Void Linux but available to many other systems too.

[deature request]Support for runit (non-systemd init)
[feature request] Support for runit (non-systemd init)
Mar 6, 2020
Does runit support user-level services? That's the key feature which is why appimaged is bound to systemd. I do not feel like hacking together another custom user-level daemon manager. I've done it too often before, and there's always some problem you forget to handle...
Currently Void Linux and other non-mainstream Linux distributions are not what we are targeting with AppImage. They add diversity and hence and complexity to the Desktop Linux platform, and we simply don't have the time to support all possible combinations. Hence we are focusing on Ubuntu and other similar mainstream distributions with a large share of users.
That being said, pull requests are welcome (as long as they won't break anything).
