A request

I am looking to intersect a vertical line (x=5 for example), with a given input polygon in the x-y plane. The output is a union of segments (sometimes of zero length). Is this something that is easy to get from the current implementation? Perhaps some function that is close to what I need, already exists. I dont' want to convert my infinite vertical line to a polygon and intersect. I'd prefer to implement an optimal solution. Any ideas? Thanks.
